Question New studio has no washing machine

I recently confirmed on a cozy studio that is perfect in all ways, except that it doesn't have a washing machine. The current tenant just walks over to the laundromat across the street to get his laundry done, but I'd rather have my own washer on the premises.

What should I consider when buying/installing a washing machine? I figure it should be near a water point and drain for the inlet and effluent -- I am potentially looking at placing it a ways away from the kitchen or bathroom, so any guidance on this would be thoroughly appreciated!

Do you have space or a balcony?

The other option may be worth considering is getting a dolly made with big lockable wheels and then have quick release fittings for the water.

I have a private rooftop. I don't remember if there was a water access point or not. There is a drain -- will draining the washer effluent into this cause problems?

Might need to rig it to make sure the washer drains into the drain and not all over the rooftop. Should really not be an issue in terms of chemicals... Most buildings have a common drainage pipe for everything going out ..

Don't put it in your studio. It will be noisy and even if you plan to use it when you are out, you will still get annoyed by the inconvenience.

Cozy Studioes are pretty small aren't they?

I'd stick with the Laundromat if I were in your position. A lot less hassle for what might end up being a lost sock or pair of underpants.

I'd love the option to walk across the road to a laundry (provided you are talking about the kind where you hand your washing over to someone and come back later and it's all nice and clean, dry, ironed and folded it!). We had one of these near our office when we lived in KL. Heaven. Now hubby does it. Nearly as good.

Except that I'm on the top floor in a 5-story walkup, and I don't quite fancy the idea of lugging a week's worth of laundry down each weekend...

The studio is around 350 sqft, and the roof around 200. I'm liking the idea of installing it on the roof. What should I get by way of protection? I'm thinking of a wooden chest/box/whatchamacallit to house the washer in so rains and sun etc don't damage it.

I didn't realize Cosy Studios is the name of a serviced apartment chain. I'm in a regular studio that is cozy in description, not in name
