    Under the sink filter

    Hi,

I am tired of carrying water bottles from the store and creating platsic waste.. Thus, I want to install a filter - ideally under the sink as I find the once mounted to the facuet very ugly.

Can you advise on which filter to buy?

    Best,
    lars

I really like the Xiaomi Water 2. It's not available in HK though so you'll have to find someone who can arrange to have it brought across the border for you.

We've been using an undersink Doulton Water filter for years now.
Advantage is the replacement cartridges can be found in many shops here including the dept stores like Eon.
We got the model with the metal casing not the plastic one, holds up fine with the pots and pans under the sink getting knocked against it.

We use the undermount set-up from this company.

Drinking Water Filters and Domestic Filtration Systems from Doulton and Fairey Ceramics

We installed a special tap when we updated our kitchen a few years ago. The replacement cartridges (and maybe accessories) can be found in Sogo and I think Wing-on.

second that, make sure, it is easy to change the filter and that you can easily buy replacement filters locally.

Given that the OP wants to drink the filtered water I would definitely go for a reverse osmosis setup.

We use an under sink system with a separate tap installed by life solutions.

We have used them for over 6 years and have had great service. We pay a yearly maintenance fee and they come and replace the filters as needed. Great thing is they contact us for the appointment, so I don't have to remember!

How much does the unit cost? They look pricey.

I always found under sink filters to be more of a hassle than it's worth. Takes up space, slow output, costs more and looks an eyesore. I have a Philips filter (WP3822) from Fortress that you just screw on the tap and boil drinking water after. I haven't been sick for years.
