What's your thoughts on a smart digital lock for front door? If you had one installed, are you satisfied with it, do you like the advantages of using it, simplicity using rf card, fingerprint, numeral code or even app on your phone (however, my one which I have chosen has no wifi, App or remote location functionality), if you are considering, what aspects attracting you to install one? I have purchased but not installed Samsung shp-dh537 last night which is going for a good price within a lock specialist store within mong kok , thanks

We had a smart lock (key pad) on our office door a while back. I had to carry a damn 9V battery in my backpack - JUST INCASE the damn lock ran out of battery or whatever after a long weekend.

This is one of those 'internet of shit' type devices that I don't see myself using.

Having said that, some of these locks are very popular in the AirBnB community as you can generate passcodes remotely and pass them to your 'guests'.

The best thing about it is that you don't have to worry about leaving without your keys and locking yourself outside your home.

worse thing about it is that its almost impossible for a locksmith to unlock he door. your only option is to burn the house down if you cant get in.

so i guess you also have a spare key for the car in your house..

by murphy's law on the day that you forget/lost your car key and needs to get the spare back home, will also be the day that your battery in the e lock will run flat and you can't get a 9V battery replacement ?

Don't know where the OP lives but 9V batteries are stocked at Japan Home Centers, 7/11 Circle K stores etc
