Good news. I have found a real woodman and just nearby is a "supermarket" for wood tools. I shall see if I can upload the photos. Cannot upload the photos which is a shame.
Anyway: The woodshop. Sze Cheung, G/F, 196 Reclamation Street, Yau Ma Tei. Very close to MTR. Good English and the wood. Deep dark and lustrous. He will cut to size and will turn wood. Oh and it is all feet and inches.

Now just about 100 metres away is Tai Tak Hardware and Hand tool supermarket. Lovely shop. Supermarket is on the second floor. They have everything. 278, Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei.

So, yes. Two brilliant shops for the home carpenter/cabinet maker.

Sorry cannot upload images but you will find them on Google street view

Elegiaque, drumbrake and Sage like this.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought you were wondering about wood for burning like in a rare fire place. For that kind of chopped wood, there are lots along the roadside in the NT. Often trees get trimmed, cut up and even sent to the landfill.
