Hardwoods in HK: Teak, Oak, etc

Eventually I found a place in Yuen Long with the help of this website. They do have some hardwoods but not much.

Who knows, maybe all the publicity got them extra time.

@woodwood, might be worth calling up and asking at the Tsuen Wan maker space. They don't supply wood (obviously) but they should have contact with suppliers, and are generally a little more openminded than your average carpenter. I would imagine that most local carpenters only really use plywood anyway.

That looks like a great hang out and do your thing place! You are spot on about the plywood generalisation. The quality of plywood is quite questionable too in many cases (with nice surface materials and damaged inner layers).

Here are two places in Yuen Long:
1. https://timber.com.hk/cpy.htm (Click yellow words on left to see photos. They have spruce 2x4, 1x4, etc and really nice Finnish plywood - weather treated Spruce and really nice looking Birch plywood certified to be made of the same species AND AGE of trees.

2. CONTACT US – 香港木庫 HK TimberBank Located in Yuen Long, they take in wood and make furniture. They will sell wood and cut it to size / plane it at cost. Not cheap by any means, but I guess business isn’t the highest.

If driving with Google, try not to laugh as it tells you to turn right onto “Fuck High Street”.

I found the second through this association website. I called pretty much all. Not much success, but I’m sure I missed a jewel or two (language issues and simply some didn’t pick up the phone - and I got lazy haha)

It's a very cool place. Lots of space, lots of big tools. Also got 3D printers, sewing machines, a CNC machine, and probably a load of other stuff I didn't see.
