Tried out the mattresses in Ikea. They were all “firm” or “very firm”. Looked for toppers ikea online but didn’t seem to see Queen size ones.

No! Thanks for sharing. Where is it located or is it website only?

Wrong website? I couldn’t see mattresses listed here.

Went through this myself last summer and will probably need to do so again soon as I've never managed to fully get used to the mattress I got.

One thing I learnt though is that it does take the body some time to adjust to the mattress so any initial discomfort may simply be your body settling into the new feeling of the mattress. I think this is why some of the online order brands offer at least 1 month trial period. The other big factor I found makes a massive difference is the pillow, and trying out different pillows during that initial trial period.

For me, I think I'll avoid going with a high price mattress and just pick a medium / low price one that feels right when I try it in the shop - at least if it turns out to be a bad choice, I can ditch it without worrying too much about the money wasted.

You really need some serious hand-holding don't you? The page you've screenshot advertises 22% off with the code BF22. I tried the code and it works. The mattress is currently $7800 HKD. Just use the discount code and buy the mattress you said you like at the price that you said is in your budget.

Exactly what I’m concerned about. That’s why I want to be better informed and be more sure of the mattress to reduce chances of needing to return one on trial or finding problems later (too firm, not supportive enough or sags too soon).

Are you able to get a topper in case your current mattress is too firm as the problem?

I definitely agree about the right pillows too. The right pillows and having many of them around the body following physio’s advice helped a lot. Otherwise I’d feel more in urgent need to replace current mattress.

Ikea does have or did have queen toppers.
