Would it have killed the 50% of the people casting ballots to have removed their heads from their anuses for once and voted for the pro-democracy candidate?

Only a split second of mental clarity was required (Send the signal to BJ and the world that HKers want democracy rather than reinforcing the idea that HKers are scatterbrained and just like to kick up a fuss). Alas, it seems that I was expecting too much.
Rather bizzare. You are saying that Hongkongers are now scatterbrains for not voting for your preferred party? how insultive!
So you are now saying that they are too stupid to vote?
Hasn't it occured to you that they cast blank votes because they dont like any of the choices or platforms the candidates have to offer and not because they simply want a "pro doemocracy" candidate to win?

Why would people vote for a single platform (we want democracy) candidate who couldn't run government afterwards?
Politically mature? You're kidding, I hope.

The PopVote election occurred immediately before the actual sham election and long after the deadline for securing nominations and declaring one's candidacy had passed. It was clear far in advance that there would be no chance of the PopVote having any effect on the robo-electors voting for Beijing's favored candidate.

The only thing that the PopVote system could do was to send a signal to the rest of the world that Beijing's choice was not HK's choice, like an SOS from a sinking ship.

The blank balloters squandered that opportunity and handed CY Leung a plurality of the actual votes cast for candidates.

    Congats to the blank balloters.
