    Occupying an island

I see it's becoming the new "must-do" here in Asia.

What kind of demonstration is that made by those who went to Diaoyu Islands?

They basically were released with a pat on the back and a Business Class ticket back home (I saw the interview of some of them on TV just now, seated in J).

I wish I could get Key West or one of those islands near Antigua...

Well, they set foot on it, it was symbolic.

I occupied Tung Ping Chau for a week in 1994. At least, I was the only one there. I didn't speak for a whole week, it was a novel experience.

And did you set the flag from your native country on it?

I didn't have to at the time, it was flying over the island's police post! The marine police would visit the pier every day, and I'd wave at them. There was also a Gurkha barracks there which was unoccupied but fenced off.

Your lucky because I was there on Ping Chau island in 1990 in the barracks you mention

You ran away because you heard I was coming?

Yes, vegetarians are a much-feared species in Gurkha circles.

My home is my island. I occupy it most days.

Whoa, I didn't know you were ex-British Army Gurkha!

As an aside, I tried some Khukri rum earlier this week. Good stuff!
