Mainland influx - delayed until after the election

That will make it less of an issue at an important time.

Some would argue all the good tourists (the ones with lots of cash) have been so the rest are just here to look and do what mainlanders do

Not at all but it is a different socio-economic class of mainlander that is being given easier access to HK's shopping malls.

Is easy access to Hong Kong considered a privilege reserved for the wealthy class on the mainland?

So if more people come along from less-privileged backgrounds, does that do anything to diminish the city's appeal to the wealthy? Or will it likely not make a bit of difference?
