    It's a symbol of dissent against Beijing/DAB etc not a wish for colonial rule to return.

    Assimilation the mainland is unstoppable and if anything the speed of integration will accelerate as we approach the 50 year mark. Expect a huge population from the mainland to arrive here in droves before 2017.

    Why 2017? I think the central govt. will make sure they can vote down any contentious legislation if needs be. Especially if it involves universal suffrage or democratic reforms.

    By telling them it's important that they vote in the 2017 elections to be sure they can't ever vote again?
