It's been said he didn't act alone in trying to get the entire wealth

    Agreed

The lawyers aren't much better in this sordid tale.
Guess he can sell the movie rights for a few million though

True, but that doesn't make this scheme any more likely to work. So instead of one dumb greedy bastard, you have several.

But who were his accomplices I wonder? Why weren't they caught?

Of course it was pure greed! As with most greedy people, he saw $$$ lying there before his eyes and wanted it.
Yes, he was already a muti millionaire and the tragedy was that he could have walked away with what he had and no one would have been the wiser.
His fortune, family, friends and reputation would have been intact. But no, he wanted it all!
Even if the will was real, he would have known this would have been a mega risk

Well, I would'nt call this a tragedy, more like justice served.

But still, while I can understand his motivation, but actually taking the step to claim Nina's assets, that's another ball game. He knew there was a slim-to-none chance of winning. He realized he would have lost it all if his case lost. Yet he still went ahead. This is greedy to the point of losing your mind and not be able to think logically.
