I think OP's question is fair. Nothing overtly personal here. A simple clarification is all that is needed. The benefit of which is to prevent our resident gremlins from using that as a (broken) shield to hide behind...

Now that the HC/WC insult trade is in full swing, I might bow out too.

FWIW Hong Wrong seems to get a lot of unnecessary flak (more on Reddit than here), and I get really pissed off with it because most of it is unjustified.

Agreed, there are some insight info on there from time-to-time. I guess some of it may be read by people the wrong way, hence their displeasure.

How would I know. Perhaps they have a history going back to some previous stories. HW is certainly no stranger to controversy; while his activity here is low, he is well known and his voice is quite loud in Reddit.

I think the flak is mostly related to frequency & self promotion rather than the content of his missives. I enjoy reading his musings....

My submissions are prominent on HK's Reddit as few others actively post. Posts from my own domains do not add up to the 10% limit that Reddit suggests - it's generally quite rare I post my own content. On Reddit, I avoid self-promotion by linking to the original source.

There's a myth that he self-promotes. He only ever does so when it is his own original content (which is quite low in frequency). Where there are other links available, he always uses them, and not ones from his blog. I too enjoy his submissions.

I guess the site's "reputation" fairly or not, comes before reality or actual posts for some.

    You're confusing reality with perception
Your posts stand out because of frequency, debate generated and prominence. I'm not complaining (I enjoy your stuff), just trying to explain the dislike on the part of some readers...

Post a bit more here please; perhaps some of your quality posts can drown out some of the drivel that a few others originate. At least your stuff seems to come from a solid foundation instead of the fruit of boredom.

I recommend you continue your posts there at Hong Wrong. As for geoexpat, you are welcomed to join here. But do be aware of some resident gremlins or troll here willing to hijack threads from time to time.

    Thank you both!
