Hong Kong Trams were very unpatriotic during the Occupy movement. A cynic would believe there is a link

There is a website for a company with a similar name
    https://who.is/website-information/h...w.intellect.hk

If it is this site and the owner, does the owner of the defunct website have juicy government contracts or is it just a personal desire to get rid of by far the cleanest transport from a heavily polluted urban street?

what a joke? removal of a few high rise buildings in the area would also reduce traffic in the area.

There are indeed bad traffic issues there. Better, cleaner solution: ban alphards. Force people who want private drivers to walk to some designated area away from the main thoroughfare of long distance buses so their cars and vans do not clog up and pollute the streets while their drivers wait for them.

Weren't there some plans to make an area nearby into an all pedestrian area with the tramway going through?

I think Hong Kong could use more ground-level trams, actually, to replace areas that buses are services (e.g. Pok Fu Lam Rd.). Yeah we have a good MTR, and that's definitely necessary, but why not also develop a cleaner, more accessible road-level system, too?

Thanks for sharing @threesummers. I'll definitely leave a comment.

This is not a serious proposal is it? The government won't consider this for real right? Oh wait, this is the HK government we are talking about...

But if the trams were replaced with smoother, air conditioned, ground-level access (i.e. no steps, better accessibility for handicapped/elderly) with better entrances (like the ones in Europe), they would be a better form of transport than the buses. Cleaner, less pollution, less noise than buses.

The above graphic is very misleading as it doesn't take Airconditioning of MTR stations into account.

Trams / trolley buses are the cleanest transit system.

Has anyone seen / been on an air-conditioned ding ding? Seems months in the making but remains elusive ...

(I love riding on the tram, by the way; on a groggy late afternoon or evening the tram is a much better alternative than figuring out the bus routes! I often seem to finish work in a slightly different part of town other than where I'm routinely supposed to ... )
