Security staff being fitted with cameras to combat un-civil behaviour

Oversized luggage on MTR provoked 73% more warnings in 2015 than 2014 – while assaults on staff doubled | South China Morning Post

Should Police and Private security staff be fitted with camera's to record what's happening and hopefully modify behaviour so things don't escalate?

Absolutely. This worked wonders in every country where it has been implemented.

number of assaults against its staff doubled to 40
Yes, lets spend millions on solving one of the bigger problems in society.

Depending on which Exco member's nephew has the agency for these cameras will determine how quickly this problem will be squashed!

First though, I demand a sub-committee be setup to study this problem and produce atleast 5 infographics to illustrate this problem.

Education by filming them and showing them the error of their ways.

Wonder what constitutes an 'assault on staff'?

With the exception of a few healthy fistfights between expats at bars I've never seen any violence in Hong Kong. Then again, I avoid the MTR like the plague.

    Wait!

Most of the warning letters were issued at train stations near the border with mainland China, such as Lok Ma Chau and Lo Wu.
Does this mean we can blame the Mainlanders?

You won't change a 30 y old or a 40 y old etc but you can instill proper behavior to a 5 y old that he will carry thru life.

Film all you want, it won't change. Yes maybe for a little while but then after a few weeks/months people who want to throw a fist will still throw a fist.

The cameras are proving to change behaviour all over the world. Why do you think they would not in Hong Kong?

I'm not an aggressive person but a few times in my life have lost my temper at people or staff for various reasons. If I had seen them wearing cameras on their chest I would probably have acted differently in those instances.
