Missing booksellers v Mongkok riots: Hong Kong reporting

Well how are these two cases linked? How the media covers one case has nothing to do with the other. What more can anyone say about the book sellers? Is the PRC going to make a statement? What is there to report? We know what happened. None of it is good.

I just think there is generally more interest in the Mongkok riots and occupy central.

Most people are selfish and they dont care unless it affects them directly. Occupy Central affected thousands including the thousands who actually took part in the protests. They all have some sort of interest.

For the booksellers, how many people actually bought books from there? Even though many are worried about what it means to us in the future, it only directly affects the booksellers and their families (and maybe small circle of friends and associates).

Think about who owns the English press these days, all pro Beijing elements

Give people some credit and don't assume they are stupid or selfish. The press is going to cover issues that are ongoing if there are hearings, sentences, appeals, whatever process going on. The premise that prosecuting the brick throwers is somehow pro Beijing and that reporting on it is a reflection of media slant is ridiculous.

The lack of info in the book sellers is even more frightening because there is nothing to report. No one is talking including the book sellers themselves. What would you like to see reported?
