Looks like she's landed on her feet. Good for her!

Berkeley, an investigative firm set up in California seven years ago, entered the Asia market two years ago with Hong Kong as its regional headquarters. It conducts due diligence on behalf of investment banks for merger deals and initial public offering candidates, providing background checks on any suspected fraud and corruption.

Li was appointed a director in the firm’s global investigations and strategic intelligence practice with responsibility to help companies look into corruption and prevent such malpractice.

So, a couple of years ago, Ricky Yau was temporarily appointed in her place.

The position is not yet filled...

The corruption watchdog has been dogged by questions over the abrupt departure of its former top investigator Rebecca Li ever since she resigned in 2016 after acting as head of operations for a year.

Critics quickly suggested that her departure may have had something to do with a reported investigation into a payment to the then-Chief Executive CY Leung by an Australian firm.

But this was never confirmed, and after Li left, Ricky Yau took over in an acting capacity. He has still not been confirmed in the position after two years.

But the ICAC commissioner said that this doesn't mean there are any governance problems at the agency.

Insufficient evidence fond to prosecute from the investihation Carrie Lam denied was happening.

Barrister and former ICAC chief inspector Stephen Char Shik-ngor said questions remained unanswered and urged the department to explain.

“The department’s statement did not say clearly whether DTZ had agreed that Leung could accept the money,” Char said. “There were other directors on the DTZ board, why was only Leung paid? Why not others? Did the ICAC investigate that?”

Char also said the case should not be dropped because a “potential or perceived conflict of interest” could also constitute misconduct.

It is hard to imagine how it can not be seen as having a conflict of interest when the Secretary for Justice's husband was on the Engineering group of 30 that voted Mr Leung into office.

It would appear to many the the I from ICAC should now be made less important - How much would re-branding cost ?
