Pedestrian safety campaign nabs nearly 1500

    news.gov.hk - Almost 1,500 booked for jaywalking

Surely another pointless campaign that has zero lasting impact.

Everyday you see many people scurrying across DeVoux Road and countless others as the proper way is not an easy way.

Rather than issuing a few tickets and patting themselves on the back it would be better if the police made public the data they have for road accidents so impartial analysis could take place to look at the root causes of jaywalking.

In hong kong "safety campaign" just means police issuing tickets, agree with @East_coast yet another pointless campaign

I saw this in action in Yau Ma Tei last week.

2 policemen, one van, 4 traffic wardens on the little road crossing outside the MTR exit C. Everyone obeying the rules.

15 minutes later coming back to the MTR, no police, no traffic wardens. Everyone crossing on the red. Maybe if traffic light systems here made more sense, less people would feel inclined to cross an empty street when the little red man is wagging his finger.
