Police are supposed to arrest criminals and then be glad if they get a conviction. IN this case the police turned out to be the criminals but they are not glad they got a conviction. They need to act like police, not a "family". The police have a job to do. Impartially, fairly, professionally and not illegally.

yup, he was already handcuffed, face on the deck, no threat, then the assault/attack happened....they should be serving time

I saw the Commissioner's comment, I think he should resign......he is saddened because they were caught on tape beating handcuffed prisoner, and then again inside the police station.

The worst part is that his comments probably reflect the views of a very significant part(if not the majority) of the police force, otherwise he would have found it unwise to publicly express sadness about the verdict.

So let this thought sink in, the majority of hong kong police is saddened because they were caught on tape beating handcuffed prisoner, and then again inside the police station.

Yet the activists who throws bricks and attacks the police gets a slap on the wrist. These activists should be all packed up in a nice container and shipped to China.

They're lucky the judge didn't add a few extra months for those silly blue suits, matching ties, facemask and aviators.

But why should they be shipped to China? What is China going to do with them?

Usually there is a reason why the length of the sentences wary, either due to the perceived seriousness of the offence or due to other mitigating factors.

Most of the "throws bricks and attacks the police" have not been as serious as this case. Some time back for example there was a activist who was convicted for 3 months for attacking the police with her breast(later appealed and overturned/reduced sentence?) Most would agree that it is far more serious to assault someone who is zip-tied on the ground with a baton than press your breast against him/her, hence the harsher sentence for the former.

    Understand ?
