I tend to side with the police on matters of OC for my own reasons, but the fact that they've managed to go through with the convictions is a reassuring symbol of the integrity of Hong Kong's legal system. I've got no issues with the HKPF but this should serve a reminder to them - and all civil servants in general - as to who they're accountable to (the public). Also sets a solid precedent for police brutality for the city which is always a good thing.

Obviously this is the guy you want on your legal team the next time you're facing charges of assaulting someone.

He would have made a great defense lawyer for the "breast assault" lady .

I doubt he has the balls to turn up in Hong Kong, would HKP arrest him?

I was surprised by the verdict--justice was served and the sentences seem perfectly appropriate for the offenses committed. I have faith in the system here and it's good to know the cops here are reined in by the rule of law.

    Possibly

Apart from contempt of court, barrister Albert Luk Wai-hung said Cai may also have committed the offence of accessing a computer with criminal or dishonest intent because he had instigated others to break the law.
He said Cai, who is based in Beijing, could still face legal consequences when he entered Hong Kong, should police decide to pursue the case.

Most of the "throws bricks and attacks the police" have not been as serious as this case. Some time back for example there was a activist who was convicted for 3 months for attacking the police with her breast(later appealed and overturned/reduced sentence?) Most would agree that it is far more serious to assault someone who is zip-tied on the ground with a baton than press your breast against him/her, hence the harsher sentence for the former.

    Understand ?
Yes, I do understand. Firstly I wasn't comparing this to someone attacking the police with their breasts. Secondly, certainly these police officers should be charged for what they did. My point was, there's been a lot of attacks against the police with no significant consequences.
