HK$640M to celebrate HK's handover anniversary

Holy Moly, nine times more than what we paid 10 years ago WTF.

HK Govt has too much money in the coffers???

67 Mil to put up pictures in shopping malls WTFFFFFFF.

Taxpayers in Hong Kong can expect to foot a bill of HK$640 million for the 20th anniversary celebrations of the city’s handover from Britain to China, according to the latest official figures.
The amount is more than nine times the HK$69 million bill in 2007 for the 10th anniversary, prompting questions on whether the spending this year is necessary.

    Nothing is wtf any more

Carrie Lam has to make. HK great again and this money is an absolutly paltry amount being spent on a number of essential constituencies.

I sure hope they do a large buy to target expats on GeoExpat. God knows we have been accused of motherland levels of censorship.

It's not HK$67 mil just to put up paintings in shopping malls. It is to put up paintings highlightiing all of Hong Kong's achievements in the past 20 years.

That's not a bad price given that the relevant painting cost about double that in auction in 2014.

That and the other sport events are nice, the track cycling is going to be held at the TKO velodrome near my place, great venue and surrounding parks and all, spent 4 hrs with the kid on tue there, jam packed with other kids running around.

The rest of the money spent is MEH!! Fire works and a few celebration parties is understandable but the rest is just being spent as tag along for the celebration part. Lots of people/business going to fatten their wallet with this govt spending LOL
