Flying Services Rescue - Typhoon Pakhar

Footage shows a helicopter rescuing 11 crew members waiting in the control room of a sinking vessel in Hong Kong at the peak of Storm Pakhar on 27 August. The ship\'s bow was already submerged by the time rescuers arrived to pluck the sailors from the ship. Pakhar brought severe weather to the area as it swept past the Chinese city.

this was a major with bloody hikers who go hiking during Typhoons.

The Post calculated that dispatching 160 rescue staff for 10 hours would entail about HK$344,000 in staffing costs alone, based on the hourly charge of HK$215 for the lowest ranked fire services officer

We had a grounding in DB during the height of Hato, a Chinese container feeder ship came to grief in the bay by Nim Shu Wan.

Watched him for several hours battle valiantly through the storm but he hit some submerged rocks (super high tide) and eventually started to list and then 'beached' against the sea wall near the marina.

The captain deserves a medal, he got everyone to safety by bringing the floundering ship close to shore several times so they could swim to shore, didn't cause any major damage to the surroundings, but sadly his ship sank the next day.

Edit - sorry all sideways, not sure why, they were fine on my computer!!!
