    I hope they use some of the wood. It would be such a waste just dump them in the landfill.

    They rather dump it all in the landfill and pretend nothing happened, out of sight out of mind instead of thinking ways to re-use stuff.

    They could not possibly chip it or turn it into mulch, that would be too logical.

    That's fine too. Just don't dump into landfill. Some of the big pieces of wood could make nice furnitures or guitars.

    Maybe some areas have fallen wood in beautiful condition, but I haven't seen any in our area - even the 50+ year old hardwoods are riddled with stress fractures across the grain from the force of the wind.

    OTOH, no need to buy charcoal for barbecues this season! A lot of the branches are already dry enough to burn without masses of smoke/ steam.
