Ocean Park posts HK$236.5m loss, 3rd straight year in the red

    https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/...5-million-loss
Revenue grew 4 per cent last year as total visitor numbers remained flat at 5.8 million.
The not-for-profit organisation run by a statutory board was bailed out by the government earlier this year with a HK$310 million cash injection and ordered to reinvent itself.

They need some new and exciting rides. They're crucial to bringing visitors back. When Leviathan opened at Canada's wonderland, the whole town was talking about it.

Hopefully Water World will be a success.

Unless you have kids, there is very little reason to go there.
There are a couple of really nice hikes along the top of it, but that dont benefit their bottom line in any way tho....

I'd rather see Ocean Park doing well than Disneyland. They need to invest in some amazing rides.

Same, except we finally went on a birthday day for free (on a weekday). It was so much fun. It was something I had never experienced and it felt like we were worlds away from "Hong Kong".

Definitely, Disney = develop for housing and stop subsidizing.
Ocean Park = let it be (without the dolphins, though!).

I go to Ocean Park at least 2 times a friggen month with my daughter as we bought Yearly Gold Pass, its always ram packed with tour groups and off course most of them are from the Mainland who rush in as they only have a few hours to spend before they are shipped off to dinner and more shopping centers to visit, they usually dont spend any money inside the park unless for some snacks / drinks, the restaurants are usually empty as the food price is Horrendous, with our year pass we do get like 15% discount.

Still Ocean park is way better value for money then Shitty Disney Land.

they both have advantages and disadvantages :-

Disneyland, no hassle to drive (as i live in NT) and with gold membership annual pass, free car parking, better for younger kids and pregnant women (no hills), okish rides, better than before, argueably marginally better public transport than ocean park, BUT food is crap and expensive

Ocean Park, aquarium, better rides for older kids and adults, real animals, better food, good transportation esp if you live in HK island, BUT the location makes it a pain to drive on weekdays if you live in NT or Kowloon as the traffic is quite bad,
