HK missing couple found dead after collision with tanker

Missing Hong Kong couple found dead more than a week after fishing vessel collided with oil tanker
The dead couple were located off Lamma Island. One of the bodies was spotted near the surface while the other was found in the cabin of the submerged boat.
On March 12, the 13-metre fishing boat sank quickly after colliding with an oil tanker 1.8km outside Hong Kong’s maritime border... a day later, the couple’s 36-year-old daughter filed a report to police, after her parents had gone missing.
The tanker, which was travelling from Qingdao to Shenzhen, was not detained after the collision. On Monday, it was moored at Dongjiang near Nizhou in Dongguan

Modern technology makes it feasible to equip all large vessels operating in Hong Kong's busy waters with cameras streaming live video feed to servers managed by the Marine Department. If one isn't already installed it can be brought over by the HKMD pilot or even delivered by a drone.

I don't approve of a state apparatus installing a billion cameras to spy on its subjects trying lead their everyday lives, but in this case having cameras onboard makes absolute sense.

this is just sad, with all the technology we have now this still happens off the waters of HK.
they should have learned their lessons from previous collisions before that claimed a lot of lives too.
