    eTaxi App

Took a few tries to get the phone verification working. Got verified on attempt 3. For some weird reason, the font does not show up on the first few pages - which are blank except for a green button.

    From the SCMP:

Like Uber, eTaxi allows users to see taxis at their location, enter trips, check estimated cost, order a cab and choose payment methods.

Hung said the app also included functions that Uber did not have, such as support from taxi call centres so drivers would know what routes to avoid.

“It’s not just a ride-hailing app, but also an app to support drivers,” Hung said.

The app also offers services such as lost and found, live traffic conditions, safe travel sharing and drivers’ ratings. Cabbies would be given higher credit points for being assigned long-haul orders if they take more short-haul trips.

Pity they opted not to test the HKTaxi app. Seems like that is the most popular one around.

This should give more of a boost to HKTaxi.

SuperCab is another new one that some dickhead lawmaker launched last week. So now we have HKTaxi, etaxi, SuperCab, Flytaxi, Didi, as well as good old Uber.

Why does this dickhead lawmaker spend his time making another taxi app, rather than doing what he should be doing making proper laws? Does he think the taxi laws in HK are fine and the problems in the industry are due to there being not enough apps?

The reviews for the app are very bad. Seems it is buggy, not tested, lacks features etc... done by a bunch of taxi drivers.....

That would be great if you could pay with your Google account.

I used Uber the other day. First time in HK. Ordered an Uber black. A Mercedes E class came. Was nice. Tried Uber black again and a Tesla SUV. Didn't like it. Tried again and now they were sending Toyota and nissan, not an Alphard but some unknown name so I just canceled it and grabbed a normal taxi. Uber has some improvement on what should be Uber black or not.
