The HKPF have no interest in maintaining law and order. They are psychopaths who only wish to inflict violence on anyone within sight.

You must be a psychopath too since you celebrate Tiananmen and want a repeat.

A few weeks before the Taiwan Presidential Election, Carrie Lam will resign.

John Tsang will come to the fore. He will promise independent inquiry, universal suffrage within 10 years, $10,000 cash handouts, etc.

The Taiwan presidential election is held.

Some dirt about John Tsang will emerge and he is out of the game.

The real chosen one will emerge, maybe Regina Ip or maybe a CY Leung comeback!

Hong Kong goes into civil war.

    A major crackdown.

    just pure speculation.
The way things are going, Ip might be the only person who would actually still want the job of CE

Unfortunately, Beijing is not getting that message. So long as they don't, there won't be any changes for the HK government.

Article 23 plus universal sufferage would be the only solution left...or is it? From a realistic standpoint, that might be the only viable compromise available. But even this step, I don't know if Beijing can accept.

Any attempt to introduce a national security law now would be seen as a final straw by demonstrators. If Beijing intends to push through such legislation, the only way it might succeed could be by also enacting another unfulfilled article of the Basic Law — which set the “ultimate aim” of choosing Hong Kong’s chief executive by universal suffrage. This has become the biggest of the demonstrators’ five demands. The chances appear slim indeed. Granting the universal suffrage demand would risk making Beijing appear cowed by violence, and setting a precedent for other parts of China. Yet, balanced with an eventual commitment to introduce a national security law in Hong Kong, it could in theory provide the framework for a visionary compromise. It might be the only route left to a peaceful end to the protests — and to averting the ever-increasing danger of a bloody military intervention from the mainland.

Police have shown restraint. So much so that it has encouraged more violence.
