Housing schmousing... how about we try making housing the solution?

We could consider petitioning the mandarins of the "Executive Council" to consider suggesting the Chief Beijing Representative who only reports to the "Liaison Office" that the ordinary toilet-paper class also needs housing.

While waiting we could perhaps hope that Alibaba Media brings housing up as the solution because there we could also engage in further solution-making with the resident Motherland people who know better and can teach us all about the facts of life.

I mean, if housing isn't the solution what is? There just isn't any way of finding out.

Drugging the pro-dem troublemakers, giving them a free (!) highspeed rail trip and lending them a one acre lot of melting permafrost on certain western high plateau (where hostile foreign media doesn't meddle) along with a sack of cement? Instant win-win housing solution for the patriotic Chinese.

Is reducing the total population of Hong Kong a viable solution?

Without immigration it would be very viable to reduce the population given the low birth rate

    One creepy solution if verified:

China customs blocked hemlets, yellow umbrella, flag & stand, banner, drone, gloves, musk, stick, black tee, metal pipe, flash stick to Hong Kong, starting 26 June.

Most of the items were widely used by peaceful HK protesters to protect themselves against police brutality.

Anyone saying HK doesn't have any land should just look at the numbers.

    Current usage:

    Public Housing 16 sqkm

Zoned for village houses 35 sqkm
    Warehouse/open storage 16 sqkm
    Airport 13 sqkm
    Roads 41 sqkm

Agricultural land 51 sqkm (when was the last time HK has actually produced anything agricultural?)
    Fish ponds 17 sqkm

Seems to me there is plenty of unused/underused land around to at least quadruple public housing stock.

That's what our public healthcare system is set up to do

Village Houses should be the first to go, not country park land. But Heung Yee Kuk exists and has influence so it will never happen.

You want your son to live in government housing on the new island?
