I think you are splitting hairs here. Traids were involved here in the attack. The precise degree of their involvement is up for debate, but there is no question they were involved. You said it yourself that 80-90% of HK villagers belong to one triad faction or the other. So what does it matter if they are coming out as "villagers" or "triads"? Therefore there is nothing wrong with calling it a triad attack.

I have yet to see any proof of which you and Gatts claim is so obvious. On the contrary I see assumptions which leads to labelling and conspiracy theories.

Not condoning the YL attacks in anyway, but if (as in a big 'if' from based on your assumptions) that the attacks was not triad based, then it wouldn't be the police colluding with triads, but colluding with villagers, see the difference? Not that either is the right thing to do.

If my brother and father are triad members and I am not, say we went to the local 7-11, bumped into a drunk and beat the living daylights out of him, is that a triad attack?

Don't go shouting wolf when some protesters get violent and then the protest itself in its entirety gets labelled as a violent protest.

I think people assume there is a Triad element to this as they do and much more importantly Police collusion.

Using the word triad may be emotive but fundamentally it this the government response that matters. The worst language the used to describe the mob in the MTR by the government that caused much more harm is 'assailants' while the following weeks mainly peaceful protest as been called some sort of nebulous riot. It is the way the government approaches the issues that is important not the label on the villagers.
