Well usually the deal of being a government officer is to get a position from which u can not get fired, but in return have to be 100% loyal to your superiors.... So if government officials come out, it probably is even breaking some laws. So it is at least a change to what has happened in the previous weeks.

And some government servants' strike can have huge effects. The air traffic control strike threat for example doesn't just mean that no planes can land and take off in HK, they are also controlling the area from HK to roughly midway to Taiwan, Philippines and Hainan for overflying aircraft.

Ngan, a Labour Department official, said the rally is not what some described as a mutiny, adding he merely wants to tell the public that civil servants have heard their views and are willing to convey them to the government.

He also said he hopes Chief Executive Carrie Lam and other top officials can meet face-to-face with civil servants to communicate and allay their worries.

He added the government must respond to peoples demand for an independent probe into the crisis, including allegations of police brutality.

if both the MTR and bus services go on strike, that will have a significant effect.
