I think the teargas is all part of the HK experience and is probably going to be a regular occurrence for the next 28 years (until 2047) so the tourism board should look at embracing and turning it into a positive. Sure, some tourists might be turned away, but there are just as many others that would pay for this kind of experience. Think of the running of the bulls in Spain, or even the Stoning of the Devil in Mecca during the Hajj now, notoriously dangerous with 6 or 7 people per square metre all jostling for breath and trying to avoid being trampled to death.
