It seems this was mostly the company self-policing because they were scared of the impact on their mainland sales after the backlash there, no?

Did i not read that the Police Chief said that HK 'is not a police state'?

    I wonder what he meant?

Choose another word for 'police': armed patrols, gestapo, state militiamen, soldiers in disguise, rightous killers, agents of CCP,...etc.'

To the attacker's family. That's an important distinction, but still one that's going to anger the mob.

Vitasoy sent an internal memo - not a press release - and offered condolences to the family - not mentioning the reasons of the death.

For all we know, the company might not even have known that he was involved in that CWB incident. And so they offered condolences to the family as they would probably do for any other death.

Someone essentially said that the family is not worthy of condolences because in this case it is linked to the CWB incident.
Secondly someone in China decided this was a good topic for Weibo citizens to discuss and no need to censor it - like they never do for nothing else…

To be clear, nothing excuses the man who attacked someone else’s life. That is deplorable and he should be condemned.

But if you divide the world into pure right and wrong like a good Leninist, you then to miss the mark and lose some basic human dignity. It’s really nothing new

“Advocating members of the public to mourn for the attacker is no different from supporting terrorism,” according to a statement on Sunday
