there's a difference between mourning for an attacker and expressing condolences for relatives.

If it was an internal memo, offering counselling services to worried/impacted co-workers... it was most likely an internal snitch, earning their NSL snitching badges and getting worked up into a NSL lather. The Chinese public started threatening boycotts on Weibo. Of course they said the memo was unauthorized, it's an easy way of controlling the damage without losing too much face.

There's a big difference between unauthorised press release (meant to go public) vs internal mail leaked to weibo via a snitch...
Most organisations would expect staff to complain internally... That snitch cost the company a huge headache. So they fire the person that sent the email to keep the CCP happy, plus fire the snitch for getting them into external strife...
