First prison sentence (in recent times) for...sedition. Yeah, sedition. Don't need that new-fangled NSL when good old-fashioned sedition can get you a multi-year prison sentence.

He’s right, of course. It is not becoming a police state because it is already one.
Just watched the Bayan Muna (communist party of the Philippines) arguing that the police should not suppress illegal protests outside the Presidential inauguration. "People have the right to air their grievances". "Suppression of protests wil send the wrong image to the world".
See if the communists were allowed to run Hong Kong everything would be free.
(Bayan Muna lost all their three seats in Congress).
