Where are the people of Hong Kong in this picture?

The slogan of the Hong Kong Police Force on their website has been changed from "We Serve with Pride and Care" to "Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty" overnight on November 19.

On the same day, China's State Council released a statement to appoint Tang Ping-keung as Hong Kong's new Commissioner of Police, replacing Lo Wai-chung who has reached his retirement age.

In an interview today, Teng reinterates that Hong Kong Police is still "Asia's Finest".

Interesting commentary in today’s Times. (Hope the link works for others) which actually names specific officers.

With these proto-disclaimers in mind, wouldn't it be awful if members of the vocal minority rioters figured out a way to spray some kind of oily mist at these armoured honourable, dutiful and loyal defenders of law and order?

Unable to see clearly they might need to momentarily lift their masks which would leave them vulnerable to toxic cockroach fumes!

Other officers on duty in Central had also taken the opportunity to speak to members of the public, and their common message was that the police and the Hong Kong people are not enemies.
But actions speak louder than words.

Perhaps that message is better sent to their peers than the public.

So many GeoExpat users have claimed "back in the blah blah, the protestors will be shot".

Here's a good thread on twitter which goes into one such scenario.
