I think the way forward is amnesty for both the protesters and police officers (eg, for minor offences).

But if both sides agree to the above, then I think an independent inquiry can be held. The police should not be against an independent inquiry if they have immunity.

And what would be the point of that? It’s like holding a trial where the guilty cannot be sentenced because they have immunity, then it’s just a bloody waste of time.
