Has Hong Kong earned a new distinction?
#BREAKING: Executive Director of Nobel-winning NGO Human Rights Watch, Kenneth Roth, has just been barred from entering Hong Kong. He wasn’t the first case, but I think he is so far the biggest indication about the curtailment of freedoms in Hong Kong.

Kenneth Roth, Executive Director, Human Rights Watch:
(tweet)I flew to Hong Kong to release @HRW’s new World Report. This year it describes how the Chinese government is undermining the international human rights system. But the authorities just blocked my entrance to Hong Kong, illustrating the worsening problem.
Despite my probing, the Hong Kong immigration authorities would say only (and repeatedly) that they were barring me for "immigration reasons." They wouldn't even own up to the real reason.
Not sure what to make of this but there are now several video angles available which makes it more credible than before.

Carrie Lam said teachers and civil servants deemed violating discipline are “black sheep†and vowed that the government would not be soft-handed in “setting things rightâ€, otherwise the whole education sector and civil service would be “shamedâ€.
