Reviewing the MTR monopoly area in Tuen Mun/TSW/Yuen Long that has existed since the opening of the Light Rail in 1988. KMB had to scrap all internal routes in the area back then and MTR took over those that don't duplicate the LRT.
The nationalisation of bus routes made sense in the 1970's and enabled the massive investment from the private sector through contracting out with the confidence of guaranteed revenues. The nationalised route management scheme has run its course and needs liberalising with a round of privatisation with greater (not complete) flexibility on route setting.

A widely spread docked bike scheme would be a good idea actually. I was bemoaning the fact that this all the Ofo bikes have vanished (and the others went belly up) my practise of cycling from the end of my hike home (about 2km) is not possible any more. The village of So Kwun Wat only has one bus, yet the housing estates newly built close by now have 3 - the bikes were a great filler (and more fun). But you'd have to have a LOT of racks. Otherwise it's too inconvenient.

What will elected representative do if they can not operate as a district councillor?

“I am here because I feel the election results don’t make sense, after all these years of voting, it is not possible that this is the result,” she said, adding she saw reports that observers during the vote counting had not been present throughout the process.
“I don’t accept the results, but I think there is very little a normal citizen like myself can do.”
