To be fair, it's difficult to get ratified, verified news anywhere. Whether I read it here, govt. press releases, twitter, reddit, most things are propaganda aimed at attempting to garner support through anger whether anti or pro.

I've started to read less news/info about it because I just cant trust anyone to report factually. The revolving thought in my head is always.. what;s the ulterior motive of the poster (in social media/discussion boards), or reporter?

RTHK seems pretty factual. HKEJ also has a variety of views (and the business background inclines me to think a realistic assessment of the truth is generally in the interest of the readership as well as the publishers).

Meanwhile, how come they never tried their hand at either mediation or condemning violence in front of the protest crowds?

You should watch Now News or iCable (it's canto though) it's the most neutral news you can get on TV. The only competition though, TVB, is on a whole other level .

I'm guessing it's getting more and more 'biased' in your view because reporting facts does trigger a response from anyone watching TV news or social media. For example, depending on your view, the headline "Police shoot unarmed protester" will either seem anti-government to you (emphasis on the "unarmed") or balanced (if you're looking at it objectively) or pro-Govt if you're happy that the protester got shot.
