To give the PRC’s wealthy and elite a few more days to get to greener pastures via HKG. I note many of the flight suspensions from HKG (e.g., American carriers) kick in from the 8th/9th.

Anyone else noted Winnie-the-Pooh has been strangely absent from state media/TV in the last few days....

Some of us are happy even though this is tearing family apart : causing grief and hardship : massive financial loss : because there is no other way : it does not help even us cross border travellers if Hong Kong drowns while China is trying to save the ship: sort it now

Yep.. speculation is he is sick with the flu (or wuflu), or if you want the tin-foil hat stuff, that a coup of some sort is taking place.

I think more likely is he doesn’t want to be associated with this for the time being, at least until there is some certainty that the situation is contained.

What about the travellers from mainland transiting at the HK airport?

They will still come even after Feb 8th since they want medical treatment here. This doesn't really help with cutting mainlanders from coming

Not sure there will be taking many flights from Mainland either.
