All travellers from mainland China entering Hong Kong, including the city’s residents, will be required to be on quarantine for 14 days, sources told the Post on Wednesday.

It is understood Hongkongers will be told to stay at home during that period, but arrangements for foreigners have yet to be revealed.

The mandatory requirement comes on top of a new move by the government to also extend work-from-home arrangements for its staff by at least another week as officials step up measures against the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

The measure asking civil servants to stay at home until February 16 at the earliest is set to be announced on Wednesday afternoon alongside fresh restrictions on all travellers from mainland China, including Hong Kong residents.

Mandatory quarantine- is this the new name for the border closure you have when you’re not having a border closure?

Oh dear. Surely just simpler to close the border to all tourist visa holders and then self quarantine for HK'ers - Can't wait to see the APP they devise for checking in 3x per day to show you have stayed home...

What about transit passengers at the Airport?

Always fascinating how we had to wait for a community "outbreak" to start before doing so.

I’m wondering what the arrangements will be for mainland tourists coming in - free vacation at a holiday camp?
