It is understood Hongkongers will be told to stay at home during that period, but arrangements for foreigners have yet to be revealed.
The mandatory requirement comes on top of a new move by the government to also extend work-from-home arrangements for its staff by at least another week as officials step up measures against the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The measure asking civil servants to stay at home until February 16 at the earliest is set to be announced on Wednesday afternoon alongside fresh restrictions on all travellers from mainland China, including Hong Kong residents.
Why from the 8th onwards and not immediately one wonders?
