Japan, Italy, France Germany, Spain and South Korea Arrivals to be Quarantined

Mandatory quarantine in camps from 2 French regions, Westphalia (Germany), Hokkaido (Japan) and Italy from Friday 13.

    Chers compatriotes,
    Bien cordialement,

    Alexandre Giorgini

Consul général de France à Hong Kong et Macao

So reliant on self-declaring if you have been to those regions? Yup, that will work.

    In RTHK..

Hong Kong is expected to impose new quarantine requirements for anybody who arrives in the city having previously been anywhere in Italy, or parts of Japan, Germany or France, in the past two weeks.

The 14-day quarantine measures, aimed at slowing the spread of the new coronavirus, will come into effect on March 13, the Consulate General of France announced.

The rules are expected to apply to the whole of Italy, Hokkaido in northern Japan, the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia which includes the cities of Düsseldorf and Cologne, and the northeastern French regions of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Grand Est.

The French consulate said people will not be given the option of isolating themselves at home and will be sent to quarantine centres, even if they are SAR residents.

    Quarantine camp vs home

Is there any logical reason people arriving from this regions have to do the quarantine in a camp and are not allowed to do it at home, like people arriving from China?

@shri might want to change thread name to include Spain.

The arrangement also applies to travellers who've visited the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte or Grand Est regions of France, the North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen) region of Germany, La Rioja, Madrid, or the Basque Country (Pais Vasco) in Spain, or the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

Might I suggest it was because the camps weren’t ready at the time?
