In some positive news admissions and fatalities are reducing in many countries.

    From the Guardian Blog

France reports another 395 coronavirus deaths, as hospital admissions continue to decline.

The new deaths – 227 in hospitals and 168 in nursing homes – brought France’s total epidemic death toll to 19,718. More than 12,000 have died in the pandemic.
Spain death toll drops as Madrid plans to close morgue in ice rink

Spain registered a sharp drop in its daily death toll on Sunday with 410 new fatalities – the lowest in almost a month, Agence France-Presse reports.
Italy records lowest daily death toll in a week

Italy’s official daily toll from coronavirus edged down to 433 on Sunday, the lowest figure in one week.

The total number of deaths reported by the civil protection services since the start of Italy’s health crisis in February now stands at 23,660 – second only to the United States, which has more than 40,000 deaths.
    From the Straits Times:

Five new clusters of the coronavirus were reported in Singapore on Sunday (April 19), as another 596 cases were confirmed with hundreds related to foreign worker dormitories.

The new clusters are detected at Woodlands Lodge I, Changi Lodge II, 51 Paya Ubi Industrial Park, 17 Jalan Besut and Sembawang Shipyard.

Of the 596 new cases, 544 were work permit holders residing in dormitories. Only 25 are Singaporeans or permanent residents. There were no imported cases.

A microbiologist studying the coronavirus at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing said Chinese test facilities were aware of the risk to lab workers and took extra precautions.

All staff must dress in a full hazmat suit when handling the virus samples, even after deactivation, among other measures.

Potentially explains the hotpot cluster, and if they knew heat wasn’t going to help, where were they in telling the world that it wasn’t going to help in hot countries and we couldn’t expect it to go away in summer and battle the complacency early on? Another missed opportunity to actually help the world prepare (instead of self-congratulatory propaganda).

Fauci was responding to a question from CNN’s Jake Tapper, who asked if the esteemed virologist had a timetable for when Trump’s mouth could be reopened without endangering public health. “The problem, Jake, is that, when his mouth is closed, we start making progress,” Fauci said. “Keeping his mouth closed is the one thing we know that works.”

Fauci Begs Pharma Companies to Speed Development of Anti-Narcissism Drug
April 9, 2020 WASHINGTON Stating that “time is of the essence,” Dr. Anthony Fauci is imploring the nation’s pharmaceutical companies to fast-track the development of a drug to treat narcissism. Acknowledging that narcissistic-personality disorder has historically been resistant to medication, the esteemed virologist said that a breakthrough drug was “urgently needed.” “I have seen the toll that narcissism takes, day in, day out,” Fauci said. “The human cost is incalculable.”

Trump Practicing Distancing from All His Prior Statements About the Coronavirus
April 1, 2020 WASHINGTON Issuing a new distancing guideline on Wednesday, Donald Trump said that he was now practicing distancing from all of his previous statements about the coronavirus. “As of today, I will be keeping a great distance between myself and anything I said about COVID-19 in the months of January, February, and March,” he said. “I will be staying at least six feet away from those statements, and probably more like ten thousand feet.”
