It really kills our Xmas plans indeed if this is confirmed. Quarantine at home is cool, in a HK hotel (that is decent) less so if you are a family

It was going to be a price worth paying to avoid HK hotel quarantine even if that ended up costing more money.
Now we have to deal with inflated prices for those few hotels taking confirmed virus bookings and limited capacity.
Let’s get one thing clear. You can’t just book a hotel. They have to know you’re a virus booking so no cleaning the room etc. Some of the hotels are not permitting food or other deliveries into your room (or to be more precise outside your room door). One or two hotels are even adding charges for taking outside deliveries up.Add to that in most cases you can’t book online because of the virus declaration and there is a mad scramble for what little ‘quality’ hotels are left and I use the word quality advisedly. Add to that average room size, few with balconies or open windows, Air BnB and services apartments not permitted
Faced with the above two weeks in a decent hotel with an extra airfare seemed a small price to pay fo the option to home quarantine.
Chinese colleagues all report that the press release was just to add Turkey to the list of high risk countries, which you can see if you read the whole link translated into English (or maybe now finally posed in English).
I think it's a false alarm...
But likely more countries will be added like Italy and maybe Germany as things are getting bad in Europe, fewer places to pick from for spending two weeks prior to returning to HK...
Is there any update on this?
I see, so it's confirmed that everyone will need hotel quarantine? We had just booked a trip to the Maldives, but this might single handedly make us cancel it. We were hoping for a vacation, but anything relaxing from it would be ruined by an 2 weeks that are both miserable and expensive
