Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam said she has "piles of cash" at home as she has no bank account after the United States slapped sanctions on her in response to a draconian security law China imposed on the city.
Lam was targeted, along with 14 other senior city officials, in the toughest US action on Hong Kong since Beijing imposed the new law on the territory in late June.
Wonder how her salary gets paid? By a truck delivering piles of cash from the Treasury?"I have piles of cash at home, the government is paying me cash for my salary," she added.

On what to with her cash, maybe she can consult with the triads who are well known for their...eh...money handling techniques.

I think it works out to about 10.4 kg of $500 notes a month.
So not even Bank of China will help her?
I would imagine if you are a bank connected to the swift network, you would be aware of risks involved in violating sanctions.
By making comments such as these, she is putting at risk everyone else who has also been sanctioned.
She must have millions. I wonder if anybody would dare trying to rob her.
Must call the guys from Money Heist. Would love to see them leaving her house with a truck-full of cash singing Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao Ciao Ciao, ...
