Gym is still open but no groups of more than 2 and must wear a mask.

Great news for me! Hate groups in gyms anyway.

    Insomnia and AliT like this.

Shut outdoor playgrounds, keep open gyms and massage parlours. The madness has started

    5. Hospital Authority Chief Executive, Dr Tony Ko

    CE Announcements

    - Latest wave is severe.
    - Experts believe it will worsen - continuous climb - not near peak.
    - 76 confirmed - 9 untraceable - 519 Dance Cluster
    - From CHP view - people have been all over. Contract tracing not easy at all.
    - Dance hall cluster has sparked a major outbreak
    - May be 2-3 more restaurants to be added to mandatory testing
    - 30 schools have been affected - teachers, students, staff, drivers - either confirmed or close contacts
    - Residents and staff of elderly care home
    - 9 civil servants in different departments

    Measures include

    - Kindy / Primary schools
    - Civil Servants on Flex arrangements
    - Large scale events being cancelled
    - Stepped up community testing - including law for mandatory testing
    - Yesterday EDB has announced all schools to suspend face to face from Wednesday to xmas holidays

    Newish

    - Going back to tightest measures for civl servants. WFH for most employees. Certain public services were affected previously, so individual departments have been given some leeway to maintain some services unlike previous round.
    - This is not "leave". Goal is to reduce public flow and "work" from home.
    - Businesses - Bars / pubs / bathhouses / clubs / private rooms to be closed
    - Amusement games center, public entertainment, mahjong etc to be closed
    - Govt venues - only open for rehersals / online performances
    - Some premises can stay open - fitness centers can open - groups to be restricted to 2. For workouts - groups of 2. Not sure about mask on rule implementation. Beauty/hair salons open.
    - Eating premises can stay open, to stay open till 10PM
    - Persons per table from 4 to 2 + social distancing + temp taking
    - Leave home app - all business premises (not sure if this is for ALL or F&B)
    - Group gatherings - no more than 2 people in a group.
    - Implemented from Wednesday

    Testing

    - Adopt designated persons testing
    - 28 premises under designated testing
    - 10K's workers of residential workers
    - People with symptoms at private doctors
    - 10Ks taxi drivers
    - Effective - 37 confirmed from the mandatory testing
    - Frontline disciplined + air freight industry - when necessary
    - Post offices and MTRC distribution of specimen bottles. Submit at collection centers
    - Private facilities - 9+ private labs approved ($240 per test)
    - getting a bit confusing with numbers being thrown around
    - This week in addition to 9, more labs being added

    More measures (anti pandemic)

    - Quarantine centers - Pennys Bay + now reopening 2 more centres and may be more "so on"..
    - Penny Bay going to speed up 1700 additional units to be released in batches (but inspection / work needs to be done...)
    - Hotel rooms being commissioned for quarantine (for travellers I assume)
    - Because so many rules have been rolled out - there might be fatigue and people might be relaxed / lax - next 2 - 3 weeks, we will ensure effective enforcement. Increase sanctions
    - Fixed penalty will be multiplied - group gatherings + masking + mandatory testing - Fixed penalty by Police Force and FEHD - Meeting with Exco to increase fines from $2K
    - Private premises like boats for parties / dancing - will pose negative effects and while they law does not allow private premises, however if we're made aware law enforcement will deal with semi public (i.e. if you take payment for a party) govt will enforce and will introduce a hotline to report "parties" / group gatherings

    Random Q&A Bits
Can you understand Cantonese? I couldn't get the bloody thing in English....

    Social Distancing Guidelines
Announced by Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the HKSAR (CE)
Effective on December 2nd at 0001hrs for 14 days.
    Updated November 30 at 1623
The situation we are facing in the 4th wave has gotten very serious. A meeting was held with several experts on her covid advisory panel and there was a common consensus that the situation has gotten worse and the numbers may continue to rise.
Today there are 76 confirmed cases but CE asks HK'ers not to let their guard down because of a decrease in numbers today. In the past week, there are over 100 cases with no previous links.
519 people have already tested positive from the dance cluster. Many of these people have gone a lot of places and seen a lot of people making contact tracing very difficult for CHP. In this wave we are seeing positive cases from all parts of Hong Kong including outlying islands.
CE is urging everyone to stay home.
    Civil Servants:
Civil servants are to work from home. Other than those who are providing essential or emergency services everyone have to remain at home.
CE is urging all private businesses to follow in the footsteps in the government and allow staff to work from home.
    Premises that need to close:
    Video Game Centers.
    Playgrounds
    Karaokes
    Swimming Pools
    Mahjong Parlors
    Premises allowed to remain open:
Gyms and exercise centers (No more than 2 people can participate in any activity)
Massage and beauty parlors (They must keep up with strict hygiene rules set out by the government)
    Restaurants:
Restaurants must all close by 10pm.
No more than 2 persons per table (From 4 persons)
Restaurant capacity will be limited to 50%
    Public Gatherings:
No more than 2 persons can gather together at any one time.

I actually think the quote included sports venues no more than 2 persons - I fear that means football has gone again!

Agreed - in parallel I was on a HK Legal League whatsapp group - they think it has gone but at the same time none of us have clarity

Whoever was saying parents are entitled in the schools thread - no school or playgrounds for the kids now. Government doesn’t want kids getting education or exercise
