Prison in Shum Chun is surely going to be worse than HK prison.

Surprised because the "ringleaders" were facing 7 years and I figured they would get 7 years. I mean, three years is still pretty awful, in a Chinese prison...

And the others could have gotten a year so 7 months is also a bit lower...

Of course, I am sure they can work out some new charges before their time is up- and I bet anyone facing prison time on HK charges will just transfer directly to a HK jail as a potential "flight risk..."

Hmm...maybe international pressure might have something to do with the more lenient than expected sentences. Of course, the mainland will never admit this and as usual will condemn foreign interference.

Pretty sure HK will put a damper on the celebrations by sticking them in juvenile detention somewhere...

What is the average punishment for illegal entry in to HK and China?

Isn't the punishment for illegal entry into HK just shipping you back out of HK? As with most normal countries?

Oh definitely, but I think they would much rather be in HK than stuck in China doing hard labor!
