Yes, more meaningful to look at the data between 7th-15th Jan 2021 for X’Mas / New Year infections.

It’s pretty much like the stupid reporters on the daily health updates. Always asking “if they see a downward trend after one day drop in the figures”. The health officials always say look at a 7-14 day trend.

Does anyone have a sense of how quarantine rules might change after getting vaccinated in HK?

From recent experience and the doomsday consultants to the government my guess and fear is that the rules will be staying for a long time, unfortunately.

In my opinion, there will be a quarantine until at least 70-80% of the local population is vaccinated which will likely not be until probably the fall and perhaps even 2022.

From what we know vaccines are set to arrive in January, can start in February. Second dose needs to be 12 weeks apart so why would all people in HK not be vaccinated with Half 1 of 2021? HK Population is only 7.5M

An exact timetable for the vaccination scheme has not yet been fixed. While the first batch of 1 million jabs from Sinovac were originally expected to arrive in January, that could be delayed, as the mainland drug maker had postponed the announcement of its phase 3 clinical data, which was first expected on December 23.

A million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine are scheduled to arrive in the city sometime in the first quarter of 2021, and a government adviser has suggested those could be the first made available to the public.

For residents hoping to take the vaccine co-developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, they will need to wait until at least the middle of next year, the earliest those doses will arrive in Hong Kong.

    Jan 3 Updates Q&A

Lam Tin Tunnel Construction Site: Seems like 10 more workers are preliminary positive after 1 worker (supervisor in scaffolding projects) tested positive. Previously infected workers were steel benders, recent cases are responsible for scaffolding. Environment is conducive to spreading.

Shared changing facilities (in containers). Not related to previous outbreak.

second dose needs be given after 2 weeks, not 12.

Restrictions will stay in place until at least the election in September. It's just too convenient an excuse to restrict protests and election drives by the opposition camp and prevent overseas residents from coming back to vote.
