    LeaveHomeSafe - No longer "Voluntary"

Just downloaded app this morning. Was asked to scan at Starbucks.

Have a GeoExpat related problem - please create a support ticket.

Looks like many venues are not going to implement the secondary contact tracing paper trail option. Either scan using the LeaveHomeSafe or leave the establishment.

And the nutjobs go all nutty... this one for McDonalds...

Beat up a 26 year old McDonalds employee because he did not want to leave his info or use the app. All for a f'ing McMuffin I suspect...

    Leave Home Safe app

Anyone started to use this app? Since the HK Gov extended eating in hours til 10pm, you can either provide your name, number and the time you entered the restaurant or you use the Leave Home Safe app to scan the QR code to login at the location and use the app to logout of the location.

I use it because we have to. You can easily block the app from accessing the internet if it's a concern

Pen and paper or burner phone for the slightly more apprehensive.

Well I’m eating now at the Village Sai Kung (best Indian/Malay in HK) and wasn’t asked for the app or to register my details which would have been ‘my details’

    eating outside before anyone asks

App seems really benign... only needs camera permission for the QR scan.

HK has utterly fucked up with this stupid implementation. They should have used the safe, anonymous widely trusted Bluetooth proximity tracking built on the Apple and Google standards. Just another shitty piece of decision making enabled by poor Governance and no oversight.

Posting like this may well be illegal in a few months.
