Kellett - Year 4 Class Not Quarantined (Verifying)

Today's press conference says no one went to quarantine. One parent in our building says this is the case, but we've not heard about this from some other parents.

It was decided that mandatory testing is sufficient according to the press conference.

Verifying this with some parents who we know.

Something happened very quickly at some point, as there was an official letter from the principal (CEO as he calls himself).

This led to us and most parents assuming that they were sent to quarantine.

I'm assuming there was some last minute negotiations and buses were turned around?

And weird enough the school has not sent out a letter explaining what happened.

This remains the last thing we've seen, unless the new letter was marked - confidential and we will expel your kids you leak this letter.

What is probably happened - they are keeping this quiet and the quarantine order is pending the full class getting a negative result.

    From the updates thread:

Kellett School - Everyone needs to be tested?

    - Primary 4 has to go through mandatory testing.
Odd how only one year group and not the entire school. FIS testing involved the entire campus. The rules aren't any clearer than before...

The whole school building is already on the compulsory testing notice

Confirmed from multiple people - this class did not go into quarantine.

Apparently some intense negotiations between consular staff / lawyers and the CHP caused the reversal - this one is speculative.

Meanwhile hearing about the U12 Sandy Bay girls team being sent to quarantine

How come these girls, just two year older, had to go then? Once again the rules are not clear.

Probably because a school would have much more leverage and resources to negotiate compared to a sports club. Having a full team of admin staff and government liaisons definitely help. I assume that if the school didn't put the effort in then the parents could claim that the school was negligent and that could open a whole can of worms

CHP probably also assumed that the sports team members did not have their masks on at all times as opposed to the students at Kellett which would be more in line with what the initial definition of close contact was (unmasked contact).
