BioNTech : New shipment ready, pending investigation

    https://www.scmp.com/business/compan...ready-delivery

The replacement batch of BioNTech vaccines for Hong Kong and Macau, and the next batch, will be sent pending the results of the investigation, Fosun Pharma’s chairman and chief executive Wu Yifang said in an interview on Tuesday. An announcement about the investigation outcome will be made in the next couple of days, he said.

I really do think its a waste of time and money, because some vials were damaged during shipment.

Lets see how this progresses today.

If the batch is so bad that it should be replaced how can then the doses administered be effective? Surely then we need to retake dose 1. If they claim batch should be replaced but our first dose is OK, then this is utter nonsense..

I do think there’s got to be some financial or access angle behind the scenes. The idea that it’s being done solely to boost Sinovac is unconvincing.

My only hope is that a new batch to replace the damaged vials is coming but also they will allow the existing undamaged stock to be used from next week. None of this makes much sense frankly.

If that were the case we would have continued the vaccinations with the second batch while the investigation is ongoing. We were ensured that both batches are safe and there is no reason to not use the second batch unless the goal is to get the BioNTech numbers down. Can't think of any logical reason to not keep the vaccinations going. The government didn't halt the vaccinations while they were investigating the vaccine deaths, but somehow some loose caps do it?

The vaccinations were also suspended in Macau and in both places suspended by the German company. Doesn't make the suspension logical though.

How does reducing BioNTech numbers help Sinovac? If that was their goal why are they releasing all this info on deaths after Sinovac - even if they conclude it’s not related?

What the HK government has done overall is cast doubt on the entire vaccine program, which has negatively impacted overall participation for both types. There are no leaders here, just bureaucrats.

And Macau’s other vaccine is Sinopharm, which has more widespread international use and published Phase 3 data.
